  • The Snowy Trout Challenge is back for another year, with $1000 cash prizes drawn monthly until the end of April. But first, you must catch a rainbow trout with this year's 2026-27 pink tag.

Over 350 tagged trout have been released into Lake Jindabyne, Lake Eucumbene, and Talbingo Reservoir.

Once you catch a fish, photograph the tagged fish and the tag clearly showing the number, photograph yourself with the fish, then enter all the details into the catch survey. The tag photograph is mandatory and will be used to verify your entry. Survey information helps measure the tourism and economic benefits of recreational fishing in the Snowy Mountains and supports future funding, sponsorship and promotion.

Each verified entry will go into the next $1,000 monthly cash prize draw. Entries remain eligible for all remaining monthly draws until the end of April. Once an angler wins, their entry will be removed from subsequent draws.

The Challenge is open to anglers of all ages. Entrants under 18 must have permission from a parent or guardian. Draws will be held on the last Sunday of each month and announced live on the Snowy Trout Challenge Facebook page.

Only Rainbow Trout carrying an official pink 2026–2027 Snowy Trout Challenge tag are eligible.

    Good luck and happy angling!
