THREDBO have advised their guests this afternoon that while there may have been a lifting of restrictions from June 1, the resort will not be open for the June long weekend and will advise of further updates for the season as information comes to hand.
With a fresh dusting of snow overnight, their new Merritts Gondola top station was looking primed in the snow flakes for when it does open this winter.
Here is the statement from Thredbo management.
While we are stoked with the announcement of the lifting of the NSW travel ban this week, we wanted to give you the friendly heads up that unfortunately we won’t be opening for skiing and snowboarding over the June long weekend.
We are working hard to ensure we are able to deliver a COVID-Safe snow season.
We remain hopeful that we will be able to offer skiing and snowboarding this winter and are hoping to announce an Opening Date as soon as possible.
To allow us to operate within the current social distancing restrictions however, we’ll need to modify how we operate this winter and we’ll be in touch with all those details as soon as we can.
In the meantime, we’re continuing with all our pre-season preparations. The construction of the new Merritts Gondola is almost complete, as is the new carpark at Friday Flat and the installation of the fully automated snowmaking system on Dream Run.
Please note that we won’t be taking outstanding payments on products until we have more details and a clear opening date. Thanks for your patience.
