SNOW lovers can anticipate a great long weekend to celebrate a fantastic season that topped out at 224.6cm on August 22 and still has a base of 169cm… So there is plenty of snow for everyone…
It will be the final weekend for Thredbo, with Perisher staying open until next Sunday, October 7.
Thredbo have top to bottom skiing and make sure you ring the bell from the top of Karels T-bar as you slide the Supertrail from the very top top the village. High Noon is another long run to test the weekend legs for the last time.
At Perisher be sure to get your last Blue Cow this weekend, it’s great to see this area open until the long weekend. Perisher have 27 lifts operating and make sure you ride the Leichhardt T-bar before it is replaced with a chair for next year. Check the website for all updated lift operations
There will be some snow flurries from after midnight on Friday until early Saturday morning, but from then on it looks to be a sunny outlook for the remainder of the weekend.
Saturday morning with a thin fresh layer of snow should be the best skiing and boarding.
The nights will be cold and below zero.
Saturday top temp will be 4 degrees, Sunday top is 9 degrees and Monday 12 degrees, so some great spring skiing ahead and only light winds.

11am – Pond Skim on Friday Flat
Dive head first into the Thredbo pond skim with a BBQ, live music, thriving crowd and more…don’t forget your towel and beach bash outfit! Prizes will be awarded to best dressed and the king/queen of the pond.
1pm – Cruise straight from the Pond Skim to Poolside at the Thredbo Alpine Hotel for the Oktoberfest Poolside Après Party, where the beers will be flowing from 1pm onwards on Saturday. Enjoy an array of German beers and awesome tunes from the Venus Trio…a great way to send of the last Saturday of the season.
Evening – It doesn’t stop poolside, from 8pm in the Schuss Bar, take on the massive Closing Weekend Party with Cutnpastethedj who’ll be playing a variety of styles and genres to suit all moods, he’ll keep the party going all night long. Visit Thredbo Website
10.30 am – For one last chance to win prizes, the jibbers should enter Saturday’s FREE Rampage Rail Jam on the slopestyle terrain park in Front Valley. Show off all the tech tricks you’ve learned throughout the season on the planks or the board and you might walk away with some goodies courtesy of Perisher sponsors! 11am-5pm Join in the fun at one of the mountains favourite venues, Wildbrumby Distillery on the Alpine Way. Have a pint of German beer, a sneaky schnapps, a great schnitzel and the foot stomping Oom-pah-pah band will be live plus J&J Alpine Music DJ.
So dust off your lederhosen or dirndl, grab a blanket, and join all the slap-dancing fun!
National Parks snow side clean up Perisher
10am-1pm – Come along to help keep our beautiful Snowy Mountains clean. National Parks have a clean-up day at Perisher with a free morning tea and barbecue lunch. It’s our backyard and playground, let’s keep it clean! Meet at National Parks office in Perisher car park.
11am – Celebrate the amazing 2018 season with a splash in the Perisher Pond Skim just below the Sundeck. Join the fun with music, a dip in the pond and a party atmosphere.
The Pond Skim combines creativity, skill and courage and will you make it across high and dry or will you plunge to the icy depths of the pond?! Bring the family for lunchtime entertainment, the Jindabyne Yabbies will be raising funds with a BBQ. Visit Perisher Website
1-5pm – After a morning of shredding head to the Bistro Deck soaking in the sun and an Oktoberfest Bavarian Long Lunch! Indulge in German delights and treat yourself to mouth-watering German Biers while soaking up all the vibes of a German Volkfest in Thredbo.

1pm-4pm -The Hip Replacements will be rocking their bluesy tunes on Sunday. There’ll be German beer on tap, and schnapps aplenty, so dust off your lederhosen or dirndl, grab a blanket, and join all the slap-dancing fun!
