COLD weather did not deter the Jindabyne Bush Pigs rugby union team who were red hot in the second half against Gungahlin from Canberra.

Leading 7-3 at half time, the second half was dominated by the pigs who ran in a number of tries. Although Gungahlin did maintain possession towards the later stages and threatened the line, the local lads held out on was a chilly afternoon at John Connors oval in Jindabyne.

When asked at the end of the game what was the difference in the second half, coach Mick Needham told Snowy Mountains Magazine, “they are finally doing as they were told and running the ball a bit wider.”

He said the team is sitting in the middle of the pack and although he is losing some players for work reasons towards the back end of the season they have good young kids and he is pretty happy with the season so far. Running into the end of the season they have a number of home games which will help their cause.

The Bush Pigs were celebrating their annual charity day where they raise funds for charity. This year Dolly’s Dream is the beneficiary of their fundraising efforts with coach Needham saying, “I hope we raise some money for the charity.”

The Lake Jindabyne Hotel will be the focus on Saturday night where jerseys are auctioned and money raised.
