2019 PEAK FESTIVAL TO BE BIGGER AND BETTER WITH $38,850 IN FUNDING

The NSW Government has today announced it will invest more than $38,000 to help boost visitation to Perisher’s 2018 Peak Festival, a four-day music event which features more than 35 artists and 100 performances.

Member for Monaro John Barilaro said the funding was part of the NSW Government’s Event Development Fund, which aims to attract more visitors to rural and regional NSW.

“I am delighted that the Snowy Mountains’ premier music festival will benefit from $38,850 as a result of the NSW Government’s record investment in rural and regional tourism,” Mr Barilaro said.

“These funds will go towards the development of a mobile friendly app to ensure visitors can access event information, both in the lead up to and during the event. In addition, the money will support improved shuttle bus services between Jindabyne and Perisher, resources to deliver better marketing and communications, and the creation of theming that will create a sense of place in the resort.

“We know that our support for events such as the Peak Festival plays an important role in driving more people to stay in our hotels, dine in our restaurants and shop in our towns so these funds will see local businesses in the region benefit as well.

“This year, the Festival will celebrate its 10th anniversary and we look forward to welcoming more visitors to the Snowy Mountains this June Long Weekend as a result of this NSW Government initiative.”

Mr Barilaro said tourism was booming across the State and Government support for rural and regional NSW was stronger than ever before.

“Growing tourism in rural and regional NSW is a top priority which is why we have committed a record $43 million across four years to allow this industry to grow and grow,” Mr Barilaro said.

“The NSW Government is determined to ensure every part of NSW reaps the benefits of our record investment and I congratulate the organisers of the Peak Festival on their strategy which is set to drive the local visitor economy.”

Peak Festival Director Belinda Shore said the 4-day 10th Annual Perisher Peak Festival will be headlined by Dan Sultan.

“Thank you very much to the supporters of the festival, in particular the NSW Government and Perisher Resort. The funding provided will allow us to properly market Peak Festival to music and snow enthusiasts across the country,” Ms Shore said.

“This year’s festival will provide a truly unique experience in the Snowy Mountains.”

The Event Development Fund is one of three funding streams in the expanded Regional Flagship Events Program which was announced in 2016. The Fund offers annual grants of up to $50,000 to regional events.

Peak Festival will be held from 8 – 11 June 2018. To plan your visit, go to http://peakfestival.com.au/.
