WHAT’S ON: ‘The NSW village of Dalgety is unique being the only town that sits on the banks of the great Snowy River in NSW. For a one pub village, it has a wealth of art being made by artists using their own unique styles and genres. With this exhibition held in nearby Cooma, the largest town in the Monaro region, our show will be a calling card not only for the artists involved but for our village. Wendy McDougall has identified a mix of local artists whose practises include painting, photography, lino prints, illustration, weaving and sculptures. Their styles are as diverse as the artists themselves, the common thread is that they all live in a small regional village on the banks of the great Snowy River. A long term goal is to find a permanent space in our village to show this work and more. One such suggestion is to apply to reopen the public school as the School Of Arts to be a place where artists can do their practise, a venue for exhibitions, and other related events such as workshops, forums and demonstrations and other community led events. This exhibition of THE ART IN DALGETY will serve as proof of work and talent in our village.’
